● Recombinant MRJP1
The science behind the protein.
Our work starts with a specific protein, thirteen years of research into its biological activity and an ambitious question: how far can that work take us in scar repair?
01
Engineered for safe, predictable outcomes.
Bioengineering is how we take this protein from the lab and develop it into products you can use, safely and consistently.
Many regenerative products rely on unstable, unmodified biological materials. Their results are unpredictable. MRJP1 is recombinant. That means created in a lab for purity, potency, and batch consistency. Engineered for safe, predictable outcomes: both structural and visible results.

Published research · Laboratory study
MRJP1 and human skin cells
Majtan and colleagues, Experimental Dermatology, 2010. This study examined honey and purified natural MRJP1 in human keratinocytes, a type of skin cell grown in the laboratory. It provides biological context, rather than a test of ScarGel or an outcome study in people with scars.
Development evidence · Tregal observations
From wound care to the scar question
In its written research Q&A, Tregal reports observations from wound care, including burns, diabetic foot wounds and vascular ulcers, as well as older scars. These developer-reported observations help explain the direction of the work. They are distinct from a published controlled trial and from the participant records we are building with ScarGel.
Intellectual property · Granted patent
US 10,842,827 B2
Granted in November 2020, this patent covers specified methods of treating wounds using MRJP1. Its claims have a defined scope. The grant is not regulatory approval of ScarGel or proof of effectiveness for scar repair.
Cohort 0 · Participant documentation
An evidence library in the making
Our participant records bring together photographs, scar histories, product-use records and participants’ own accounts. Their value depends on consistent capture, clear context and the inclusion of limited or absent change.

Each pair was rotated, scaled and cropped by hand so the scar sits in the same place. The original photos as taken, only resized and, where noted, covered for privacy. Color, skin and lighting are not edited. Distance, angle and light differ between photos. These six records were selected and do not show what every participant can expect.
03 – Cohort 0
The first participant records.
Before anything goes on sale, we document what happens on real skin. Cohort 0 was a small first group of participants with established scars.
Cohort 0 is small and observational. It is not a controlled clinical trial, and these records do not predict anyone else’s result.

What we still need to learn
- How does that potential translate into meaningful change in established scars and stretch marks?
- How does the experience vary with scar age, skin tone, and other biological factors?
These are the questions our participant records are built to answer.
